MIRACLE MONDAY – Blakely Weitekamp

Six days before Courtney Weitkamp gave birth, her daughter Blakely unexpectedly stopped moving. Courtney was in and out of St. John’s for observation before her water spontaneously burst! “I had a normal pregnancy up until the week of Blakely’s birth,” said Courtney Weitekamp.

Blakely was born at 34 weeks and weighed 4 lbs. 11.5 oz. “The hardest part was being discharged without her,” said Courtney Weitekamp. She spent 10 days in the NICU because she was on a CPAP and oxygen.

Currently Blakely is battling Alopecia Areata…sudden hair loss that starts with one or more circular bald patches that may overlap. However, she has had significant regrowth after a few months in all areas!

“You’d never know she was a 34 week preemie! At 18 months she was in the 99th percentile in height and 53 in weight on the normal scale, whereas when she was born, she was 0 on the normal scales.”

Blakely just turned 2 in June! She can count to 5, loves puzzles, and is the best big sister!

“We are blessed with two healthy kids and love HSHS St. John’s Hospital, the NICU and staff.”
