MIRACLE MONDAYS – Bailey Spivey

  • Every pregnancy comes with surprises. For the family of Bailey Spivey, that surprise came when Tanesha’s water broke at 19 weeks. “Bailey was born at 30 weeks and needed assistance with breathing,” said Tanesha, Bailey’s Mom. “She was immediately put on a ventilator. Three days later Bailey became septic.”

The NICU staff informed Tanesha that something was wrong with Bailey and they couldn’t pin point it at that moment. “They sat me down and informed me that Bailey was septic,” Tanesha said. “They realized later that she had developed an infection that attacked her blood and lungs.”

It was not easy news for the Spivey family. “I was devasted, hurt and helpless. I knew in my heart that this was not the end. I knew that God didn’t bring us this far to end there.”

The hardest day for Tanesha was the day that Bailey fell sick. “She was motionless the entire day. I still remember when my pastor came and prayed over her…she reached her hands out as if she was saying Hallelujah!”

Bailey recovered and today she is a healthy 4-month-old baby. “Bailey is doing great! She continues to make progress every day.”

The Spivey family is thankful for the care they received at St. John’s and the caregivers they received it from. “The care was beyond what I could have ever imagined! If I had to do it all again, I would want to do it right here at HSHS St. John’s Children’s Hospital.”
