Miracle Mondays – Finleigh Whitworth

MIRACLE MONDAYS – Finleigh Whitworth

The story of Finleigh Whitworth

When Ali and Seth Whitworth visited Ali’s doctor for a routine ultrasound, they had no idea anything was wrong. “The doctor sat down with both of us and explained that Ali’s cervix was almost non-existent,” said Seth Whitworth, Finleigh’s father. “He thought that it was highly unlikely that Ali would carry to full-term.”

Ali was put on bed rest for three weeks. Following that, Ali was admitted to the hospital and seven days later Finleigh was born. She weighed only 1 pound, 4 ounces.

“We were in panic and disbelief. We feared losing the one thing we longed for the most,” said Seth.

Finleigh pulled through and spent 164 days in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St. John’s Children’s Hospital. Today, Finleigh is a thriving 10-month-old . “We hope that Finn grows up to be happy and healthy and realize she can do anything she sets her mind to,” said Seth.

“We believe that there isn’t a better place in the country to receive the kind of care HSHS St. John’s provided. From the amazing staff in the Birth Center to the superb nurses and doctors of the NICU, it was top notch. We were so fortunate to have St. John’s so close to home.”
