Miracle Mondays – Jayden Scroggins

Nicole Scroggin’s pregnancy did not go as planned. Her amniotic sac ruptured at 19 weeks and her son Jayden was born at 23 weeks. Jayden was given a 5% chance of survival. If he did survive, he was given a 90% chance of cerebral palsy along with physical and mental limitations.

“He has beaten all the odds,” said Nicole.

Nicole remembers the day when her son Jayden almost died. “The NICU called me early one morning and informed me that his heart had stopped and he was no longer breathing,” said Nicole. “They were resuscitating him while I was on the phone.”

Jayden offered his take on the day that he does not remember but he does think about. “I died once but then came back to life because God gave me good luck.”

Jayden survived and has surpassed every expectation. Today, 9-year-old Jayden loves America’s Got talent and wants to be a doctor when he grows up!

“There really aren’t words to describe what St. John’s means to me and my family. If it weren’t for them, we would not have Jayden.”
