MIRACLE MONDAYS – Glenwood HS Key club celebrates year-long efforts to support the kids!
Key Club is the world’s largest student-led service organization with over 270,000 members in more than 38 countries. They’re dedicated to providing its members with leadership skills, service opportunities, character development, inclusiveness, and kindness. Every club is committed to serve its community and give back to the world. The kids treated at HSHS St. John’s Children’s Hospitals have always been an important focus for Glenwood High School’s Key Club.
“Glenwood Key Club is always eager to get involved with CMN because of the local connection – we know we can make an impact in our community,” said Stephanie Hagan, Glenwood Key Club advisor.
The Key Club has made a tremendous impact on kids treated at St. John’s! “At our large club gatherings, we assemble craft kits for children who are hospitalized to take their minds off of “where they are” for a little bit,” Stephanie said. We volunteer at “Art from the Heart,” Radiothon and the Little Miracles 5k. We have held community recycling events where people can drop off items that we give to other groups to put to good use and take donations for CMN. We even held a Krispy Kremes for Kids fundraiser!
How do the students feel about supporting kids treated at St. John’s? “We get excited when opportunities to support the children at St. John’s comes up! Earlier this year our students voted unanimously to purchase a Kangaroo Chair for the hospital, something we learned about at a Little Miracles 5K. It always makes us happy to know that we have positively impacted our community. Whenever we can help make miracles happen, no matter how small, it warms our hearts! “
