MIRACLE MONDAYS – Brianna Vlach

The story of Brianna Vlach

At 6 months old, Brianna Vlach was diagnosed with Marshall Smith syndrome. “She was born at 34 weeks and in the NICU for two months,” said Judy Vlach, Brianna’s Mom. “Tests showed she had some serious health concerns and she had some very rough months after we brought her home.”

Brianna’s life expectancy was just 18 months. “I was overwhelmed,” Judy said. “We had no signs during pregnancy of any problems. It was all a big surprise.”

Brianna, however, had another surprise in store for her parents and caregivers; She would spend a lifetime beating the odds.

“She has amazed everyone with her fierce determination. We marvel at how she has beat the odds and lived a life of joy. Her attitude is amazing!”

The Vlach family is extremely grateful for the care that Brianna has gotten at St. John’s over the years. “One thing I really enjoy is the way everyone here works together and the medical staff communicates with each other to provide the best care for Brianna. Their knowledge and compassion are key to the care they provide. “

Today, Brianna continues to beat the odds! She is an energetic and loving 17-year-old who loves to sing, dance and visit Disneyworld (her favorite place!).
