MIRACLE MONDAYS – Harper Meyer

The story of Harper Meyer

Holly Meyer remembers the day when she was told that she would not be having your typical delivery. “We found out at the 20 week sonogram that I had Complete Placenta Previa,” said Holly. “The Placenta was low lying and covering my cervix entirely, which caused severe bleeding and made a c-section my only safe choice for delivery.”

After a number of scares, Holly was told that she would be delivering at 30 weeks. “I was rushed to the OR for an emergency C section,” Holly said. “I was terrified at this point. I had absolutely no idea if I would make it, or if my baby girl would be OK.”

Holly pulled through and met her baby girl the next morning. “I was so anxious and worried that I didn’t sleep at all that night,” said Holly. “I did not know what was going to happen with my baby.”

Harper pulled through as well and spent 36 days in the NICU. “Having to leave the Hospital without her was by far the hardest thing we have ever had to do. It was absolutely heartbreaking, every day for 36 days.”

The happiest moment for Holly came when she could finally hold Harper for the first time. “It was December 30th in the afternoon. Our sweet nurse Amanda, carefully took her out of her Isolette and let me K-care her. I was so scared at 1st just seeing every wire attached to her tiny body, but once she was handed to me, that all went away. It was the best, happiest feeling in the entire world and felt so natural to snuggle my baby.”

Today, Harper is a healthy, happy 4-month-old girl!

“The care given at this Hospital was exceptional. There was never a moment that I felt like the care that I received or that Harper was given was anything else but the best. I am so thankful, especially for the nurses in the NICU for taking such good care of Harper. We are forever grateful to the staff on the NICU floor to the birth center for all that they have done for our family.
