MIRACLE MONDAYS – Starr Corbridge

The story of Starr Corbridge

Starr Corbridge still remembers the day when a fun bike ride turned into a fight for life.

“When I was 9 years old, I was riding my scooter without a helmet,” said Starr. “There was a pothole I did not see and the next thing you know I was flying through the air.”

Starr’s accident resulted in a skull fracture and missing teeth. “I was immediately rushed to St. John’s Children’s Hospital,” she said. “My neighbors tried to save my teeth but doctors said it was too much risk to my head to attempt to reinsert them. My life was in danger and thanks to the wonderful doctors and nurses at St. John’s, I am here today!”

Starr did get physical therapy in the months after to refine her motor skills. “I wasn’t as stable after the accident. I enjoyed cheerleading and softball and it was hard to not return to those sports after the accident.”

Fast forward to 2018….Starr has graduated from Robert Morris University with an Associates degree in Political Science!  She has continued to Purdue Global for her Bachelors. “I love my career at the City of Springfield as a Paralegal II in the Code Enforcement/Corporation Counsel Division! I bought my first home last year with my fiancé. We currently have one dog named Blue and one cat named Mia and we will be getting married next September. I am incredibly thankful for all the doctors and nurses who treated me at St. John’s!”
